Kafka on the Shore and Norwegian Woods are recommended. Actually there is one novel of him I couldn’t find yet despite my spending great effort on googling, that is Sputnik Sweetheart which I yearn to read as “Bastille” clip from the film “Paris, Je t’aime” mentions it. Buying it is not a problem, but finding it is not an easy task here. I’ll be thankful if someone could help me get it.

It was delicious, made me crave for more and more.

To make this, you’ll need:
1. White bread
2. Egg
3. Butter/Margarine (Butter is preferable)
4. Salt and Pepper (optional)
5. Meltable Cheese (optional-I used cheddar)

Really, it’s that simple. I didn’t use salt because I used salted butter which is usually salty enough.

The steps:
1. Cut the hole in the centre of the bread (I used the rim of a glass to do this).
2. Heat butter until melted in the skillet and brown one side of the bread.
3. Flip the bread over (with brown side on the top), add more butter into the hole and crack the egg inside.
4. Turn the heat down, cook on low heat just until the egg is set and not runny anymore, if you intend to make it sunny side up like the way I did, do not flip the bread, just let it cook through that way.
5. Sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper.
6. You’re done.

Actually, I topped it with melted cheese, but I took the picture before I added the cheese for the sake of aesthetics, so that you can see the perky egg yolk on the centre! It looked messy after I added the cheese, but it did taste really good!! Melted cheese goes really well with egg-in-toast. Yummy!

I had been craving dark chocolate for weeks. Finally today I decided to buy this when I did grocery shopping after I got a facial at Liz Clinic. Got injected with steroid on some cystic spots, hurt badly! Okay, back to the topic, despite being an avid fan of dark chocolate, I had no idea what 85% dark chocolate tasted like, so I decided to have a taste.

Since I had no idea about the intensity, I bit a large chunk of it. Disaster! Bitter as hell!! But I trust Lindt as a world class chocolatier, so instead of blaming the chocolate bar, I thought I must have eaten it in the wrong way. So, after washing down my mouth and my throat with water to neutralise the unpleasant bitterness, I gave it the second bite, but now, I nibbled it slowly in a small bite, felt the flavour and aroma released inside my mouth, and let it melt gracefully without trying to chew it (which will obviously ruin the pleasure). The result was great! The chocolate went down smoothly without being bitter in a harsh way. I describe the flavour as powerful, rich, and earthy, yet creamy and smooth. But, due to the intense taste, I recommend you eat it slowly, enjoying every nibble with all your senses.

Outstanding and definitely worth trying, if you love dark chocolate as much as I do! It beats the oversweet Silver Queen dark chocolate all out. The only downside is the price which is quite pricey for my humble wallet.

However, even though I gave 8.5/10 to this chocolate, it’s still a little bit too heavy for my liking; I reckoned the 65%-75% ones would be perfect.

In The Mood for Love (Fa Yeung Nin Wa)

Written and directed by Wong Kar Wai.
Starring Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung.
My Rating: 9/10

Not a typical commercial film and definitely not for everyone. A shallow audience will say it is cold and boring. But for me, this film is truly a masterpiece of art. Such a simple story, yet hauntingly beautiful. Basically, it tells about a man and a woman who find themselves attracted to each other after suspecting their spouses having an affair. That attraction gradually turns into love–an intense love–yet they have to restrain themselves from the temptation of going too far.

Contrary to seemingly similar films, this film offered an evocative, sensual atmosphere with no promiscuous act needed, which we rarely see these days. And at times I found it both very frustrating and fascinating, as they avoid physical contact due to their strong fidelity.The interaction of the two main actors are purely emotional, yet it still offers a subtle erotic nuance without being too revealing. It has no cheesy,trying-too-hard-to-be-romantic dialogue, as their eyes reflect unspoken poetry. An antithesis of Hollywood’s impulsive passion we are used to.

Wong Kar Wai seems love to puzzled the audiences with many ambiguous scenes, in which he gives the audiences freedom to interpret the scenes their own way. Raising many questions and many interpretations, the lacking of straightforwardness, which not many people will find enjoyable. Myself, felt frustration, ache, and confusion the first time I watched it. How come two people who were deeply in love couldn’t have each other? They had already caught their spouses having an extramarital affair. So why couldn’t they just leave their legal spouses and end up together since there would be no love lost between them and their spouses? It’s difficult for me to understand.
“What am I, if I can’t be yours?”
Still, my disagreement with the why don’t they choose the path of happiness doesn’t reduce my overall score, and finally I accepted it as an “Elegantly Poignant, Sad Love Story”.

It also has wonderful cinematography; every scene looks like a beautiful painting. Some people might find it boring due to the slow pacing and slow motions. But I lost myself in the beauty of the scenes. If you have capability to understand hidden meaning behind the symbols, like a love story that has depth, and can stand a slow monotonic scene, then this movie is absolutely for you.

I believe in free will.

Therefore, I don’t need God.

I’m not making a “I AM AN ATHEIST” statement here, I’m not one of them. God may or may not be exist, I can never be sure and I don’t really care either.

I just want to live my life freely, without any external boundaries and constraints from something I doubt exists.

Recently, I’ve been following David Widjaja and Zhou Zheng’s story. Darn, what a coincidence! Two guys from the same university, same faculty, and apparently same laboratory died one after another in less than a week! @_@

As with other Indonesians, thought that soon filled my head was CONSPIRACY underneath both cases.

But I wouldn’t make precipitous and careless judgment, instead of there have been bunches of those analysis on the net, it could lead public into prejudice and biased opinion, which I rather won’t do at this moment.

I just want to comment on a hilarious analysis found here

EDITORS’ NOTE:

This is another interpretation of the second suicide which is going around in the neighborhood kopitiams. Zhou Zheng may have “seen” the “spirit” of Widjaja hanging around in the laboratory where he worked and was traumatized. That’s why he was seen praying, burning incense papers and leaving the door of his unit open. He may have committed suicide because he was unable to stand the sight of the apparition. According to Chinese folklore, human beings who died violently, prematurely or unjustly often linger around at the place where they spent their last days. They have to be “chao1 du4″ by a Taoist priest within 49 days to soothe their grievances so that they can be reborn into a better realm of existence.

I don’t know who made that analysis, but it sounds lame. I laughed my arse off! And yes, my opinion is biased on the fact that I don’t believe in afterlife.

To David and Zhou Zheng: I don’t know who you are, and yet I don’t believe in afterlife so my praying-for-your-soul act would be futile. Even this message to you is also useless, but I still hope the truth to be revealed, sooner or later.

p.s.: I believe you two are innocent.

Minggu seharusnya libur, jadi gw ga nelepon.

Hari senin sore, gw nelepon lagi, terhubung lagi sama Pak Usep, saat itu gw membatalkan karena alasan impulsif, tapi sekitar 2 jam lagi gw nelepon lagi, nanya-nanya dikit, dan setuju dipasang, dan gw bilang lagi, “Tolong telepon saya kalo teknisinya sudah bisa.”.

Hari selasa, selama gw kuliah, gw ga nerima telepon apapun. Lalu, ketika gw pulang, sampe di kos, karton yang mau gw pake buat bikin nametag uda ditulisin, laptop gw udah dalam keadaan nyala, dan udah tersetting internetnya.

wtf??!!

1. Gw sama sekali ga dihubungi.
2. Pemilik kos, Sudiro, mengizinkan teknisinya masuk kamar gw gitu aja.
3. Teknisinya ga berinisiatif minta no telepon gw dulu ke pemilik kos.
4. Teknisinya masuk kamar gw.
5. Teknisinya nyalain laptop gw, lalu setting internetnya.
6. Lalu, teknisinya nyari random paper, dan nemuin karton putih yang ada tulisan lea, lalu dia nulis langkah-langkah koneksi internet di sana (yang ternyata karton itu in fact mau gw pake).

Gw tentu aja bener-bener ga suka sama cara mereka memperlakukan pelanggan yang parah sekali. Itu sangat melanggar privasi, ga sopan, ga etis, ato malah bisa dibilang kurang ajar.

Terus gw nelepon, protes ke Routelink, ini gambaran kasar percakapan kami:
Lea : Tadi teknisinya udah dateng ke tempat saya kan ya?
Pak Usep : Iya ya? Udah dateng? Gimana? Udah bisa?
Lea : Belom bisa konek, kemaren bapak uda ngasi nomor telepon saya ke teknisinya? Kok teknisinya dateng begitu aja trus nyettingin tanpa hubungin saya ya?
Pak Usep : Duh, sebentar ya mbak… <-Respon yang tidak diharapkan

Gw dihubungkan dengan seorang wanita, ga tau namanya.

Pembicara : Halo mbak?
Lea : Saya mau nanya nomor telepon teknisi yang tadi masangin internet di tempat saya, tubagus ismail 6.
Pembicara : Ada apa mbak?
Lea : Yah, saya mau ngomongin aja ke dia kalo saya ga suka prosedur Routelink yang menurut saya ga etis, karena dia main masuk begitu aja ke tempat saya tanpa persetujuan saya. Itu kan ga sopan banget ya.
Pembicara : Oh, gitu ya mbak. Bentar ya. <-Respon yang tidak diharapkan.
Pembicara : Ini, 0857-XXXX-XXXX, namanya Sogi.

Oke, terus gw nelepon Pak Sogi.

Pak Sogi : Halo?
Lea : Halo Pak Sogi?
Pak Sogi : iya betul.
Lea : Saya Lea, dari tubagus ismail 6, yang tadi siang dipasangin internet.
Pak Sogi : iya, ada apa?
Lea : Bapak kok tadi ga hubungin saya dulu sebelom masang?
Pak Sogi : Saya kan kehubungnya langsung ke bapak Sudiro, Pak Sudiro yang minta pasang.
Lea : Iya, tapi gini, kemaren saya nelepon ke kantor Bapak, kehubungnya sama Bapak Usep, lalu saya kasih nomor telepon saya, dia bilang bakal hubungin saya kalo udah ada teknisi yang bisa, kok malah jadinya kayak gini, saya ga dihubungin terus tau-tau kamar saya udah dimasukin begitu aja, lalu laptop saya dibuka tanpa minta izin saya? Itu bener-bener ga sopan pak.
Pak Sogi: Saya ga tau itu, tapi kan udah sering masang di tempat Pak Sudiro, Pak Sudiro minta ya udah saya kirim, saya taunya cuma kaya gitu, udah biasa seperti itu. Lagipula saya bukan teknisinya.
Lea : Jadi bapak penanggung jawabnya gitu? Terus bapak kehubungnya ama Pak Sudiro langsung? Pak Usep gimana?
Pak Sogi : Saya ga dapet kabar apa-apa dari Pak Usep. Iya, ke Pak Sudironya langsung.
Lea : Iya, kalo gitu saya minta nomor teknisinya, soalnya internetnya juga belom bisa jalan.
Pak Sogi : Ya udah, saya SMS deh.
Lea : Makasih Pak.

Telepon gw tutup.

Lalu ada SMS masuk dari Pak Sogi.

WTF? Itu kan nomor telepon kantornya??

Terus gw SMS nanya nama teknisinya, tapi lama ga dibales, dan gw udah ga sabar nelepon lagi.

Lea: Pak, yang bapak kasih bukannya nomor telepon kantor? Saya kan minta nomor teknisi. Teknisinya siapa Pak?
Pak Sogi : Wah, saya ga tau nama teknisinya. Tanya kantor aja, itu cuma head yang tau.

Lho? Kok penanggung jawab ga tau nama teknisinya siapa? Lantas gimana caranya dia mempertanggungjawabkan perbuatan orang yang dicovernya kalo orang itu melakukan perbuatan yang tidak menyenangkan client? Masa bertanggung jawab atas orang yang dia ga tau siapa? Benar-benar koordinasi yang buruk, setelah koordinasi Pak Usep.

Akhirnya gw nelpon RouteLink lagi, dibolak-balik… Gw lupa yang ngangkat siapa, gw minta tolong dihubungin langsung ama teknisi yang nanganin gw, namanya Iin.
Lea: Halo Pak Iin, bapak yang tadi hubungin internet di rumah Pak Sudiro?
Pak Iin: Betul mbak.
Lea: Kok Bapak tadi ga hubungin saya dulu ya, main masuk terus main nyetting gitu aja? Saya jujur aja ga suka dengan cara bapak lho, ga etis banget..
Pak Iin: Oh, saya minta maaf banget mbak. Tadi saya bener-bener ga tau, saya cuma ngelakuin apa yang diminta atasan, tadi juga Pak Sudiro bilangnya masuk aja, pasang aja, terus kamarnya dibuka ama pak Sudiro. Biasanya juga begitu kok mbak.
Lea: Tapi bapak perlu tau ya, itu bukan cara yang tiap orang bisa nerima, lain kali jangan gitu lagi deh pak, orang banyak yang ga suka, lain kali hubungin aja kliennya langsung dulu kalo mau masang.

Abis itu gw tanya tentang kenapa blom bisa terhubung, akhirnya ini bisa nyambung juga.

Ketidaksukaan gw ya itu:
1. Tentu, dia ga minta izin dulu.
2. Gw cewe, dan main masuk ke kamar cewe ditambah faktor nomor 1 bikin makin parah, apalagi ada barang-barang pribadi di kamar.
3. Engkoh pemilik kos ngijinin masuk gitu aja, bahkan tanpa liat identitas ato nanya namanya. Gimana kalo ada barang hilang? Kalo bukan orang Routelink tapi cuma ngaku-ngaku, terus ngegondol barang gw gimana?
4, Laptop gw dibuka-buka.
5. Dia nulis pake karton yang dia ga yakin gw bakal pake apa ngga (oke, ini ga sebegitunya).
6. Ga ada koordinasi yang baik antara Pak Usep, Pak Sogi, Pak Iin. Gw ga menuduh Pak Iin karena emang barang gw utuh, tapi misalnya ada teknisi lain di bawah Pak Sogi (tapi Pak Sogi ga tau siapa), ngambil barang gw, siapa yang tanggung jawab di kasus ini? Apalagi liat nomor 3. Identitasnya ga ada yang tau.
7. Dari semua, yang minta maaf ke gw cuma Pak Iin. Yang lain cuma jawab dengan respon sekedarnya. Ga menunjukkan rasa bersalah, padahal itu udah jelas sekali perbuatan yang ga tolerable.

Apa Routelink menganggap perbuatan seperti itu biasa sehingga tidak perlu minta maaf? Gw marah tadi, buat gw hal seperti itu sangat ga bisa gw terima. Gw sangat menghargai privasi, barang pribadi di kamar dan laptop itu private, bukan public. Kalo orangnya udah kenal deket ama gw, mostly ga masalah masuk kamar gw tanpa bilang dulu, tapi masalahnya, itu orang ga dikenal yang ga diketahui asal-usulnya.

Sepertinya pegawai-pegawai Routelink perlu dikasih kuliah etika dan sopan-santun deh.
Lalu prosedur menangani pelanggan dan sistem administrasinya perlu diperbaiki, supaya di saat sesuatu yang buruk terjadi, ketauan siapa yang bertanggung jawab, jadi ga saling lempar tanggung jawab.

Itu uneg-uneg gw, sekaligus juga kritik membangun buat Routelink.
